Results are temporary and vary

Orthokeratology temporarily reshapes the cornea. Vision gradually returns toward its original level if the lenses are not worn as prescribed. Results vary from patient to patient, and not every patient reaches the same level of vision.

Do not wear ortho-k lenses if you have

Contraindications typically include the following; confirm against the package insert.

• An infection or inflammation of the eye, or any eye disease, injury or abnormality that affects the cornea, conjunctiva or eyelids
• Severe dry eye, or reduced corneal sensitivity
• A systemic disease that may affect the eye or be made worse by contact lens wear
• An allergy to any ingredient in the lens care solutions
• Any condition that prevents you from following the wearing, care and follow-up instructions

Warnings

• Wearing contact lenses, especially overnight, can cause serious eye infection (microbial keratitis) that may lead to permanent vision loss.
• Remove your lenses and contact your eye care practitioner right away if you have eye pain, redness, discharge, light sensitivity, blurred vision or any other problem.
• Never rinse or store lenses in tap water, and never use saliva. Clean, disinfect and store lenses only as your practitioner directs.
• Keep every follow-up visit, even when your vision seems good.

Possible side effects

These may include eye discomfort, redness, tearing, dryness, glare or halos around lights, fluctuating vision, corneal staining or abrasion, and eye infection.

Information we collect

• Inquiries: the name, email, role, practice or company, country and message you send through the contact form.
• Doctor accounts: your email, password (stored only in hashed form by our sign-in provider), name, professional credentials, license number and issuing state or country, NPI number if you give it, and practice details.
• Orders (planned): what you order and where it ships. Orders identify patients only by your own reference number. Please do not send us patient names or other patient health information.
• Technical information: our hosting provider records standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and pages requested. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and scripts from cdnjs (Cloudflare), which receive your IP address when your browser requests them. We do not use advertising cookies. How we use it

To answer inquiries; to verify practitioner licenses with the issuing licensing boards and, for US practitioners, the NPPES NPI Registry; to run the doctor portal, certification and orders; to keep the site secure; and to meet legal and regulatory obligations, including medical device reporting.

How we share it

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only with service providers that run the site for us (hosting, sign-in and database, email delivery) [list providers]; with authorized VIPOK distributors when needed to fulfill an order in your region [confirm]; when the law requires it; or as part of a merger or sale of the business.

How long we keep it

Your rights and choices

Patient health information

Children

This site is intended for eye care practitioners and adults, including parents. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Security and international transfers

We use reasonable safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Information is processed in the United States [confirm], which may have different data protection rules than your country.

Eligibility

Accounts are for optometrists and ophthalmologists holding a current license in good standing. You agree to give accurate license information and to tell VIPOK promptly if your license status changes.

Confidential materials

The reference chart, lens selector, fitting guide and case reports are confidential and for your own clinical use. Do not share your login or distribute these materials.

Clinical responsibility

You are responsible for patient selection, fitting and follow-up, using your own clinical judgment, within each lens’s approved indications and the laws where you practice. The chart and selector are aids, not a substitute for clinical evaluation.

Certification

Complete the VIPOK certification course before placing your first order.

Patient information

Identify patients on orders only by your own reference number. Do not send VIPOK patient names or other patient health information.

Adverse events and complaints

Suspension

Known limitations

Some legacy images, such as corneal topography maps and fluorescein photos, are low resolution and carry information that is only partly described in text. We are replacing them with higher-resolution versions and fuller descriptions.
